🔒 Privacy Policy
Last updated: January 2026
SEAMUNs (“we”, “our”, or “the site”) is a web app for tracking Model United Nations conferences in South East Asia. This policy describes how we handle your information when you use the site.
1. Information we collect
- Account data (if you sign up): email, name, pronouns, and profile picture you provide, or data from Google Sign-In (e.g. email, name, profile photo).
- Usage data: which conferences you mark as “Attending” or “Attended”, and any files or text you upload to the Archive or profile.
- Local data: theme preferences (e.g. dark mode, accent colour) and conference attendance may be stored in your browser (localStorage) and, when you are signed in, in our backend (Firebase).
2. How we use it
We use this information to:
- Provide the conference tracker, your profile, and the Archive.
- Remember your preferences and attendance across devices when you are signed in.
- Improve the site and fix issues.
3. Third-party services
We use Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Storage) to run accounts and store data. Firebase’s privacy practices apply: Firebase Privacy. If you sign in with Google, Google’s privacy policy also applies. We do not sell your data to third parties.
4. Cookies and local storage
We use browser local storage (and similar mechanisms) for theme settings and, when you are not signed in, for attendance data. We do not use tracking cookies for advertising. Firebase and Google Sign-In may set cookies as described in their policies.
5. Your choices
You can use most of the site without an account. If you have an account, you can update or delete profile information in My Profile. To stop using the site, you can sign out and clear your browser data for this site.
6. Security
We rely on Firebase and standard web security (HTTPS, secure auth). You are responsible for keeping your password and account secure.
7. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
8. Contact
For questions about this privacy policy or your data, please use the contact details on our About & Contact page.
