๐ŸŽค Speeches

Formal speeches are a core part of MUN. You speak as your country or character, usually from a speakersโ€™ list or when recognized in a moderated caucus.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips for effective speeches

  • Stay in character โ€” Use your countryโ€™s or characterโ€™s position, not your personal opinion.
  • Structure โ€” Brief intro, 2โ€“3 main points, clear conclusion or call to action.
  • Time โ€” Respect the time limit; practice so you donโ€™t run over.
  • Clarity โ€” Speak clearly and at a steady pace so the chair and delegates can follow.
  • Yield time โ€” If you have time left, you can yield to questions (Points of Information), to the chair, or to another delegate, depending on the rules.

Use unmoderated caucuses to build alliances and refine ideas; use speeches to present your position and persuade the committee.
